I screwed up last night. Jack fell off the couch. I had went to sleep on the couch after Jack fell asleep in his swing. I did not want to move him to his crib because he is such a light sleeper and I was so tired from him not taking a nap yesterday. Well at some point he ended up on the couch with me. I could feel him falling. Luckily we have carpet and our couch isn't tall. He cried for maybe 3 seconds. I cried a lot longer.
We have all been there! Violet fell off our very high bed at six months. Don't beat yourself up!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I haven't told my husband. I'm always showing him what to do to take care of Jack. I have to keep up my perfect Mama act for awhile longer with him :)
DeleteHow are you feeling? Did you see I featured your post on Friday?

Been there done that with all my kids....twice with Henley :(
ReplyDeleteAt least you got it out of the way.
Don't beat yourself up about it it happens to the best of us.
Thank you! I appreciate the comments of understanding. Makes me feel a little better. I know there will be more times like these but that first one is just really hard.
DeleteI love the name Henley. I teach a girl named Henley and she is just the sweetest thing.
It happens to most Moms. If it makes you feel any better, I had put my little one in a swing when he was just a couple months old & left the room. When I came back in, my sister & I couldn't find him! He had fallen off & was covered in a pile of blankets. I almost fainted right there.
ReplyDeleteOh how my heart would have sank also. My husband and I really need to get in the habit of buckling him in now. For so long he was just so little that it didn't seem to matter if he was buckled in or not. Your story will be my reminder.
DeleteThis happened to us too, but it was my husband with our now three year old daughter. He fell asleep in the rocker/glider with her and somehow the chair, he and her ended up toppled. She is no worse for the wear, but we sure had a scare that night. Just no you aren't alone and are probably more scarred then he ever will be. Hugs and following over from Raising Imperfection Link-up.
ReplyDeleteMy husband still doesn't know about Jack falling off the couch. I just feel so bad that it happened on my watch. Thanks for sharing your story because it does help to know I'm not alone.
DeleteOh ... this has happened to pretty much every parent. Don't beat yourself up over it.
ReplyDeleteThe first time is always the scariest.
Thank you for linking to Raising Imperfection.
Please come back Friday to see if your post was featured.
Good luck!

Uh oh, you said first time, so this will happen again? I sure hope not. I have been so careful since. Seeing your baby cry is hard but even more difficult when you know those tears could have been prevented by you.
DeleteWe definitely learn from our mistakes! My son fell down a flight of stairs because I forgot to close the baby gate one time. NEVER AGAIN. Thankfully he was not hurt. But I was so upset I vomited!!! And cried alot!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I can only imagine how upset you were. I already know this kinda thing will happen again and I'm already dreading it. Thanks for stopping by and making me feel better. Much appreciated!
