To All of You Stay at Home Moms

How do you do it? As much as I looked forward to summer, I'm equally ready for school to start back. I'm starting to think I would like the school all year round idea. Just when you need a break, you get one. Summer is too long and the school year is too long. We need a better balance.

So this summer my husband has either been in class, clinicals, or work. I have spent each and every day with my little Jack Jack. I adore him and am so thankful for this time together. BUT.... Oh my gosh this is boring. Regardless of Tuesday or Saturday our days are the same.

Get up, feed and change, play, nap, fed and change, play, nap, feed and change.....It is an endless cycle. Sometimes we go to the grocery store and mom ends up a sweaty mess and as she tries to balance holding a screaming baby that wants to be held as I push a buggy through a sea of people. Fun times people. I also get the joy of running around cleaning and possibly showering like a crazy headless chicken while he naps as I silently pray the dog doesn't start barking and wake him up.

Don't get me wrong. I've really loved all of this time playing with Jack. Our days are just so monotonous. Seriously, how do y'all do it?

I'm looking forward to having a reason to get dressed in the mornings because hey what is the point of getting out of your pjs when you aren't even going anywhere. Make-up? I don't even know where mine is at the moment. I need incentive and motivation. I don't feel guilty about loving work. Jack loves daycare. He loves playing with other kids and he also hates getting bored (he is like his mom after all).

  1. It's hard, no doubt. We keep busy with play groups, library activities, the pool, etc.. but do have a down day every now and again. :) I'm actually thinking of just getting a part time job, though.

    1. I think a lot of it has to do with Jack only being 8 months. If he was older we could do more things. Plus we live in a small town where there are no play groups. I would LOVE to be in a play group. I'm trying hard to cherish this time because when I go back to work I will be missing him like crazy.

  2. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels like this! It IS boring! I feel like it'd be a lot more fun or interesting if our babies were older and we were able to interact and do more with them. But at this age, being home with them every single day is just incredibly repetitive. I love it when we're able to get out and go places, but since Jon and I share a car, and he's usually at work everyday, Travis and I are stuck at home. I'm very excited to start going back to school and be able to focus on that as well!

  3. It absolutely can be boring! lol! I'm lucky in that my husband works from home ( as I do) so we both sort of do shifts. It does get easier though. But we are very hippie in the sense we just hang out and don't have any plans or tons of social activities, but as our daughter gets older she will be in dance classes and such.

    1. I'm glad you have something that works for y'all. I'll start back to work soon so there will be no boring times. Weekends will be cherished and I'll be happy to just be at home. Right now though every day just looks the same.

  4. We do playdates, park, picnics in the park, days swimming at the aquaplex. I'm never bored ever, in fact I long for times when I can just sit around and do nothing. But my kids never leave anything clean for very long.

Anyway, new follower here from the Super Sunday Sync and I'm following on BlogLovin. :)

  5. My mom friends keep me going for sure! I don't know what I would do without them.

  6. It can be boring, but most of the time it's really not. The key is to come up with a routine, have play dates, and not allow yourself to spend a day in your pj's. Thankfully my Ladybug doesn't usually wake until after 8. That gives me time to get a good bike ride in with both of my dogs, read my Bible, and have a little me time before showering. I shower EVERY day. That's a must. My hair may go in a ponytail, but it's clean.

The thing is, I stay busy almost all of the time. I long for L's nap times, because then I get a bit of a break. Otherwise I don't get one until I'm asleep.

  7. Hi Mrs. Mama, just saw your email. Yes it will get more fun when nap times and routine don't take up the most part of your day. Those routines are important to babies developmentally. For me I blog or cook fun things. :) I find the days go by so fast. I wish they'd slow down.
