A Holiday Realization

In less than one week my baby boy will be born! I couldn't be more excited and ready to meet him. Since I'm on bed rest I have plenty of time to check out blogs and pinterest. I keep running across these super cute holiday ideas. I realized today that I might not be able to do all these things that I would normally do. I'm having a c-section, which I hear isn't simple to recover from. I'm also about to have a newborn and from what I hear they don't allow you much time either. This is all going to be very new to me. I'm trying to make peace with this idea. I probably will not host an ornament party this year, cook lots of goodies, make homemade gifts, or any of the things I like to do during the holidays. I know that once baby Jack is here I probably will not care about those things but maybe I will. Not really sure how I'll balance it all. Any suggestions?

  1. You'll do fine :) Yes, newborns are tiring but a lot of the care really just comes naturally.

You'll know how you feel when it's time to do some holiday decorating. Just listen to your gut :) You may want to decorate & you may decide you'd rather spend the season snuggling with your little one & sleeping when you can. ;)

    1. Thanks! I think you are right. I'm just going to have to see what happens when the time comes. I may have to change my regular holiday traditions to make room for new ones.

  2. OK, I think we may be the same person. I realated so much to your last post, and now this one. I've been on bed rest for almost 10 weeks and have spent a ton of time reading blogs and looking at Pinterest.

I'm not real sure what we're doing in regards to decorating, as I too will be recovering from a c-section. I know we'll do a little something, at least the tree and stockings as we have an almost 4 year old who has been asking about Christmas since June.

Take it easy, don't push yourself too hard, and do what you feel is right for you this year. Yes, it'll be "Baby's first Christmas" but in the bigger picture, he won't care if the house is decorated or if he goes to any holiday parties. Enjoy the time with him!

    1. I know you are right. I can't wait until my little one is old enough to get excited about the holidays. I bet your little one gets so excited over presents and twinkling lights. I can't wait for those moments.
