Saving Money

Saving money is very important to our family at this time due to the numerous medical bills that have occured due to the birth of our baby Jack and the still on going problems with my c-section recovery. Here are a few simple things that I am trying to help with finances.

1. Before you check out
look at your items and see if there is anything that needs to be put back. Example: the day after Christmas I spotted my fav cookies half price. Right in the buggy they went without any thought. Before I paid I took a look in my buggy and knew they needed to go back. It saved us $1.50 and extra calories.

2. Pay attention to generic products. There are some things that I have to have name brand but some products are pretty much the same regardless. I had been buying name brand products because I knew them. My eyes went to the products I had seen on tv and I would just throw them in the buggy. This week I bought generic noodles, acid reducer, tomato sauce, chicken, pizza sauce, and bread. You will however not see me buy generic Sprite.

These are just some simple money saving techniques that I wanted to share.

Do you have great money saving techniques?

  1. There ARE a lot of generic or store brand items that are just as good as name brand. Good point! Visiting today from the Train Hop.

  2. I am a huge fan of generic products (except diet coke). I am a huge fan of Target brand formula, you get the best bang for your buck with theirs.

    1. Leslie-can you believe that the nearest Target for me is over an hour and a half away??? It sucks! I adore Target but can only go when I'm making a trip. I'm making a Target trip on Tuesday and I'm super pumped about it. Have a great day!

P.S. I tried responding to you directly through my email but you're a no-reply blogger. I did a post on how to fix this a while ago. You can check it out. That way people can respond to you when you comment on their posts. :-)
